Children and Children's Rights

This video is taken during the seminar on Rights of Children.

Give a child a chance in life..

With a population of more than 97 million, the Philippines has enormous social problems. The divide between rich and poor is very wide; 30% of the population live below the poverty line (i.e. on less than $1 a day). For many Filipino children, the conditions are desperate. City slums are constantly growing, child labour is widespread and, according to a 2000 UNICEF estimate, more than 200,000 children live on the streets. The UN has identified the Philippines as one of the worst Asian countries for child trafficking, stemming from poverty, family breakdown, poor educational and employment opportunities, among other things.

The International Convention on the Rights of the Child states that children have a right to receive care, protection and respect.

The Philippines has signed and ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, however, many government policies and practices still do not include or recognize children.

Day Care Teachers: video

These are photos during the 17th Annual Provincial Day Care Teachers Convention 2012

A day care teacher is one of the first guardians of the mind of a child.

Daycare teachers work primarily with children who are too young to start preschool, from infants to 5-year-olds. You’ll be nurturing the young, impressionable minds of the future, stimulating their physical, emotional, intellectual and social growth.

A daycare teacher is a type of preschool teacher who provides child care and education to children who are too young to attend elementary school.
